Chairman / CEO

Carl Mittendorff

Senior care has been a passion of Carl’s ever since he watched his grandfather, a decorated WWII Marine Corps Tank Commander, pass away in a Medicaid bed at a nursing home. At the time, Carl was a young man just starting out in business, and there was only so much he and his family could do to care for “Papa” with the resources the family had.  Carl’s mother, a long-time single mother, working hard to support her family, acted as Papa’s caregiver in the evenings while she worked her full-time job during the days.  Eventually, Papa’s care needs were too severe, and the family had to move him into a state-funded facility.  Soon thereafter, Carl devoted his career to serving seniors.

Carl knows that his purpose in life is to serve.  In his heart, this extends towards his employees, the residents they serve together, and their families. He is a firm believer that his residents’ and employees’ lives should be as engaging and fulfilling as possible; he genuinely loves carrying out his purpose of service both professionally and personally.  Carl routinely serves as a speaker and industry expert in seniors housing conferences, newsletters, and other media.

Carl is committed to bringing the Colonial Oaks culture of loving care and services across the nation through strategic acquisitions and new development. His commitment is to marry the unmatched Colonial Oaks Senior Living 40-year history and longevity of yesterday with the research, innovation, and technology of tomorrow. This isn’t the first time that Mittendorff has led the growth of a senior living company. In fact, he spent the prior decade leading the growth of another company from 4 communities to 38 communities, eventually operating across 21 states. Colonial Oaks is uniquely poised to embrace new innovations in eldercare while building upon its 40-year foundation of loving and serving seniors.

Chief Strategy Officer

Matt Strange

Matt leads Colonial Oaks’ strategic initiatives including operations, clinical programming, business development and sales and marketing. Matt’s career has encompassed 22 states and more than 28,000 residents and patients. He has also assisted with the planning, construction, acquisition and operation of more than 200 senior living and skilled nursing facilities throughout the country.

Previously, Matt served as Voralto’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. Prior to joining Voralto, Matt served as the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Abri Healthcare and National Health Care, and Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Avalon Health Care Group.

Tanya Thornton

DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL OPERATIONS

Tanya Thornton

Tanya is our Director of Clinical Operations and Risk Management for Colonial Oaks Senior Living and Voralto.  In addition to being a nurse, Tanya also has experience in finance management and banking.  Tanya has worked in various roles in both small and large senior housing companies.  Having provided direct patient care, she believes one of her most important roles as a leader is to support and educate the front line team members and their communities. She believes this focus helps ensure we provide the utmost love and care for our residents. 

Tanya is originally from Western Wisconsin, attending high school and college in the La Crosse area.    Along with her degree; she is TALA licensed, RUG and MDS trained and certified through Texas State University and the State of Texas HHS. 

After careful consideration, Tanya and her family decided to relocate to the Katy, Texas area for a career opportunity.  In her downtime, Tanya and her family spend a great deal of their free time volunteering and involved in the Katy community.  With a passion for senior living and overall resident care; she truly feels that her mission is to love and serve others.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF SALES AND MARKETING

Cathy Stafford

Cathy is our Regional Director of Sales and Marketing and brings more than 15 years of senior living experience. Cathy has extensive experience in new construction pre-sales, lease-up and sales training with demonstrated success in a variety of sales roles. She works directly with our communities to develop and implement strategic marketing plans.

Her passion for serving others and results-driven approach drive the day-to-day performance of Voralto’s communities. Prior to joining Voralto, Cathy held a number of leadership roles with Five Star Senior Living, LifeWell Senior Living and Fieldstone Retirement.
